Open the link in your browser
A request link lets you send files to a team. A delivery link lets you download files that team has prepared. Open the link supplied by the owner, enter a password if required, and follow the page’s controls. You do not need an administrator account to use a shared link.
Browser transfers use HTTPS. Keep the page open while sending and wait for the completed state before closing it. A modern browser with WebAssembly SIMD and module-worker support is required for the sender.
Use the native desktop app
The macOS and Windows clients send files and folders, receive directly into a chosen folder, and keep transfer history for recovery. Native QUIC is used when supported by the deployment and network; the app shows the route actually in use.
| Platform | What to obtain |
|---|---|
| macOS | The macOS build supplied for your deployment; the current application targets macOS 14 or later. |
| Windows | The Windows build and installation instructions supplied for your deployment. |
Your deployment team supplies the appropriate installer and installation instructions. Include your platform and processor architecture when requesting a build, and confirm the release channel and signing status before installing.
Put transfers into a script
The votport command-line client sends and receives using the same core as the desktop applications. It can inspect links, resume journaled transfers, manage requests and deliveries, and run watched folders.
Use the CLI build supplied with your deployment and check votport help for its commands. Keep the client and server versions with your automation configuration so an update is a deliberate change.
Software for your licensed deployment
Your port license provides the VOTPort server for your infrastructure. Pin the container image to its released version and published digest, and keep that reference with the matching recovery set.
You will need persistent database and file storage, HTTPS access, an operating backup plan, and separate UDP access if you enable native transfers. Your deployment agreement supplies the release and permitted use.
